FOIA-disclosed Slack messages from the SAME authors days BEFORE publication show them privately stating the receptor-binding domain was 'heavily mutated' and the virus 'looked engineered.' The paper went through editorial revisions to make the no-engineering language stronger because *Nature* initially rejected it for not ruling out the lab leak strongly enough. The Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic concluded the publication was a coordinated cover-up to protect federally-funded GoF research + international diplomatic relations
