The bridge from a South African mining war to the architecture of 'international order.' Round Table member; his 1914 agreement with Gandhi (abolishing the £3 poll tax, leaving the economy intact) was an early managed-dialectic prototype. He later drafted the preambles to both the League of Nations Covenant and the UN Charter.
